In British Columbia being a Registered Massage Therapist requires training in anatomy, physiology, pathology and kinesiology. As soft tissue experts we have some of the best depth of knowledge regarding muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue of any health practitioner. Regulated by the Provincial Health Act we must pass a provincially regulated board examination. We have both a provincial regulatory body, the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia and a professional body, the Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia. To maintain our status as registered massage therapists we must do continuing education that includes a mandatory minimum of hands on time. Our standards of training are unmatched in North America.
Coverage for Massage Therapy by MSP, ICB, Work safe and most third-party health insurance though specific plans vary. Some plans allow for direct billing by massage therapists, please inquire with your carrier to determine if you can receive this benefit.
